My first day riding a bike through the backroads of Columbia felt like I’d just gone through ten Survivor episodes and hadn’t been voted off the island. Yet. Day 1 had taken us 250 kms north of CALI via two river crossings and countless narrow, rutted, muddied trails masquerading as roads. Day 2 was to be more of the same, but with no (planned) river crossings and only 50kms of off-road at the end of the day.
Here’s what happened.
Postscript. I made it back to ABQ after a three leg, 15 hour plane ride. Next day visited three doctors and the current diagnosis is I won’t need surgery, but it will take a while to heal. One remaining unsolved issue is some questionable bone growth that needs to be explored.
Too bad about the aborted trip and your shoulder. I had a very low speed spill in California in 2014, landing directly on my left shoulder. I was down before I could even think about what was happening. I now resemble Quasimodo, to some extent (at least my shoulder) but I lost very little mobility and had almost no pain after a couple of days. Surgery offered but declined. I am still doing the PT that was prescribed which has probably saved me a lot of grief and immobility. Since you shared an aftermath picture I could include a shoulder shot of my own but that might be pushing it. Good luck.
Criminy, what next, wrestling alligators in Florida? Geez, how about a Barcolounger and a big screen T.V. with 3 remotes for your next adventure. Gregg
